Bulldogs Go 2-1 in Home Motors Tournament, Aye Collects 250th Career Victory

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball squad posted a 2-1 finish at the annual Home Motors Tournament over the weekend after collecting wins against Victory Valley and LA Trade Tech.

Vondre Chase was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the event. Throughout the weekend, Chase averaged 10.6 points per game while turning in a 53.33 shooting percentage.  

Head men's basketball coach, Tyson Aye, collected his 250th career victory on Saturday evening after topping LA Trade Tech in a 72-67 decision. Aye, who is currently in his ninth season at the helm of the Bulldogs program, has spent a total of 17 years as a head coach at the collegiate level.

GAME ONE - ALLAN HANCOCK def. VICTOR VALLEY, 84-52 - BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs cruised to victory in game one of the weekend event after jumping out to a hefty 53-19 lead at the intermission. Hancock shot a red-hot 60 percent from the field while limiting the Rams to just a 32 percent showing. Shawn Kelly led a pack of six that finished in double figures after posting a team-high 15 points on the night, followed by 14 from Vondre Chase and 11 from Obadiah Curtis. Bryce Craver, Matt Solomon, and Collin Oestrereich also chipped in with 10 points apiece. Craver also set a new career-high with seven steals in the contest.

GAME TWO - ALLAN HANCOCK def. LA TRADE TECH, 72-67 - BOX SCORE

Hancock used a strong second half surge to top LA Trade Tech after trailing by one at the intermission. Both teams finished the night shooting 40 percent from the field, but a strong 70 percent showing from the charity stripe helped lead the Bulldogs to victory. Matt Solomon led the squad after pouring in 22 points off the bench, followed by Amari Stroud's third double-double (19 points, 13 rebounds) performance of the season. Noah Haaland proved to be a force on the inside after notching a career-high of three blocks in the contest while adding on five points and two rebounds. 

GAME THREE - FRESNO def. ALLAN HANCOCK, 71-65 - BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs struggled in the final game of the weekend after turning in 21 turnovers and were unable to overcome a six-point halftime deficit in the loss to Fresno on Sunday afternoon. Solomon led the squad again with 15 bench points after notching four shots from long range while Kelly recorded 14 and Craver added 11. Both Craver and Kelley also secured 12 rebounds each and combined for eight assists on the night.
