MiraCosta Is Victorious On the Road in the First Round

The four hour drive did very little to deter the MiraCosta men's basketball team from being prepared for their opening round CCCAA state playoff game.  The Spartans travelled to Cerro Coso College and after forty minutes of play won by a score of 93-70.  At one point MiraCosta held a 30 point lead.  With the win the Spartans survive and advance to play Santiago Canyon in the second round of the tournament.

The Spartan sophomores stood out in the scoring column with Patrick McLachlan leading the way with 23 points on the night.  McLachlan has been on fire as of late, shooting an impressive 47% from the three point line in the month of February.  Julian Williams and Carter Plousha both added 17 points. Plousha finished with a double-double, also recording ten rebounds.  MiraCosta's entire active roster made positive contributions in the blow out win. Devynn Wakefield had ten points and seven rebounds, and Jordan Campbell, Jayden Winfrey and Lamont Couch Jr. combined for 22 points.

MiraCosta will take on Santiago Canyon College on Thursday in the second round of the CCCAA state playoffs.
