Falcons finish off regular season with win over Big 8 leader Delta
After a series of disappointing performances - 3 losses in 4 games - over the final week of the regular season, the Folsom Lake men re-found their winning ways with a hard-fought 70-67 win over Big 8 leader Delta on Thursday night in Stockton. The Falcons were helped by the return of reserve guard Yaadvir Dhaliwal, who provided 14 much-needed points off the bench. Freshman point guard Cameron Wall scored 16 points to go with his 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Dane Johnson recorded a double-double with 11 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots, and Pierce Rexford also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The big win allowed the Falcons to grab a share of third place in the final Big 8 standings, by far the best in program history. Delta and Santa Rosa shared the title with 12-4 records, with FLC and American River finishing at 10-6 in third place. The Falcons await Sunday's seeding meeting results to learn their opponent for the CCCAA state playoffs, starting on Tuesday.
