Angel scores 30, Porterville still falls 87-68 to West Hills Coalinga

Sophomore Carlos Angel erupted for a career-high 30 points but it wasn't enough as the Porterville College Pirates suffered an 87-68 Central Valley Conference loss to visiting West Hills College Coalinga on Saturday night.

The loss dropped the Pirates to 7-14 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

Porterville fell behind 54-28 after the first half and wasn't able to get back into the game despite outscoring West Hills (17-4, 8-2 CVC) 40-33 in the second.

Angel nailed 7 of 9 three-point attempts on his way to a career night scoring. He made 9 of 13 shots altogether while grabbing five rebounds to go with three steals.

Jackson Cascio was the only other Pirate to score in double figures as he chipped in with 15 points. Elijah Mascorro totaled 12 rebounds to lead PC.

Porterville will look to bounce back from consecutive losses on Wednesday (Feb. 7) when the Pirates host Fresno City College in a 7 p.m. CVC contest.
