The MSJC men's basketball team led from start to finish on Monday afternoon as they picked up an Inland Empire Athletic Conference home win over visiting Palo Verde College 114-62.
The Eagles shot an impressive 19 of 34 from the field including going 7 for 14 from the three point line in the first half as they built a lead at intermission of 54-28. The hot shooting continued throughout the second twenty minutes as well as MSJC cruised to the victory. For the day MSJC finished 56% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc as they scored a season high 114 points.
Jamaal Barnes followed up his 41 point game from last Wednesday with 20 points in just 18 minutes of action on Monday. Danilo Da Silva scored a career high 19 off the bench for the Eagles and also dished out 4 assists. Jerron Hampton just missed recording his first double double of the year as he put up 12 points and hauled in 9 rebounds. Lenzell Simmons and Kamien Cederlind also each reached double figures in scoring with 11 points a piece. Chidi Okwarabizie grabbed a game high 10 rebounds for the Eagles as they out rebounded the Pirates 49-32 in the contest.
The win pushed the Eagles record to 9-10 overall and 5-2 in IEAC action while Palo Verde dropped to 2-18 and 1-7. MSJC has two road games to close out this week as they travel to San Bernardino Valley on Wednesday for a 7 pm game, and to Copper Mountain on Saturday for a 3 pm match up with the Fighting Cacti.
