The Saddleback men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 70-60 win against Santa Ana College on Friday night inside the gymnasium. Sophomore Jackson Gray scored a career-high in the game.
Saddleback entered the night in a mini slump, losing six of its last nine games and dropping in the conference standings. The Bobcats were playing a Santa Ana squad going in the opposite direction, having won four straight games.
Saddleback pushed all the right buttons, putting the Dons on the defensive in the opening half and never letting them up for air. Jackson Gray was the catalyst, making six straight shots from three-point range in scoring 23 points in the opening half. Gray would finish with a career-high 30 points for the night, making 8-of-12 shots from beyond the arc while also collecting a career-high nine rebounds for the game.
Saddleback is now 11-12 overall and 5-6 in Orange Empire Conference play. The win put them back into a tie with Santa Ana for fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference, two games back of third place Cypress with three games remaining before the conference tournament.
Saddleback will host first place Fullerton College on Wednesday night at 5:00 PM.
