AVC Men's Basketball lost a conference battle against West LA College 72-69 on Saturday.
The Marauders fell behind big early but climbed back to a 10-point deficit at halftime. AVC found momentum behind Malik Larane's 12 points in the second half and tied it at 69-69 with 1:12 left to play. But they couldn't find the net in the final seconds. The Wildcats slightly outshot the Marauders 41.2% to 40.0% but held the clear rebound edge 41-33. Their bench outscored AVC's reserves 33-14 while they scored 42 points in the paint to Antelope Valley's 16.
Mister Burnside led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Malik Larane's 19. Burnside also had a team-high 7 rebounds. Ripine Vagaia, Elijah Flowers, and Josef Major scored 7 points each in the loss.
The Marauders are now 9-9 overall and 1-3 in conference. They'll next battle Santa Monica College in a home contest on Wednesday, 1/22, at 7:00 p.m.
