No. 11-ranked Citrus College battled until the final whistle blew but came up just short against ninth-ranked Santiago Canyon, 89-86.
The Owls slip to 6-2 on the year while the Hawks improve to 8-1.
Five Owls finished the night in double figures, led by Jayden Johnston's 18 points (6-for-11). He also had seven boards. Anthony Tello (7-for-14) and Leonard Turner (4-for-6) each chipped in 14 points, while Dylon Davis (4-for-7) and Chris Harper (4-for-9) contributed 11 points apiece.
Citrus overcome an 11-point deficit to pull within a single possession, but time ran out before the Owls could try to force an extra period.
The Owls head to the Fullerton Tournament next week, taking on San Diego City College on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
