The West Valley basketball team erased a 41-30 halftime deficit with a 15-3 run to open the second half to spur a 73-70 win over state-#1 City College of San Francisco Friday night in San Francisco. The Vikings (5-0) held the Rams (4-1) scoreless for the first 4:37 of the second and got big offensive production from Quinn Denker (11 points in the second half), Adam Afifi (10) and Ben Baker (10) to secure the big road win.

After WVC went up 47-46 at the 11:37 mark, the teams traded points the rest of the way until Mahmoud Fofana drained a free throw with 1:41 remaining for a 71-70 Viking lead. WVC got the ball back on a defensive stop on the ensuing Ram posession and Jacquez Walker buried a two at :45 to put the Vikings up 73-70. CCSF was unable to convert on its final posession.

Denker led all scorers with 20 points, while Afifi finished with 15. Baker and Fofana both had 11.

The Vikings host San Joaquin Delta (2-3) Tuesday (11/23) at 1:30pm. The College of San Mateo (5-0) comes to Saratoga Saturday (11/27). Tipoff is 3:00pm.
