Elijah Mahi scored 32 points to lead West Valley to a hard-fought 77-75 victory over Gavilan Wednesday night in Saratoga. Mahi followed that up two nights later with a game-high 17 in WVC's 71-52 wire-to-wire win at De Anza. 

The Vikings (23-4, 9-2 Coast South) and the Rams (18-8, 7-3 ) put on a show Wednesday in a rugged battle featuring two of the state's top players, Mahi and Gavilan's Jailen Daniel-Dalton. While Daniel-Dalton wound up outscoring Mahi 34-32, Mahi converted six free throws inside the final minute to seal the win.

The game was tied 33-33 at the half, but four straight points from Daniel-Dalton gave the Rams a 38-35 lead at 17:46. A Mahi bucket at 16:16 gave lead back to the Vikings at 42-40. The teams would trade baskets the rest of the way until WVC grabbed a 76-72 lead with :13 left. Daniel-Dalton drained a three with :04 to go to trim the WVC lead to 76-75. Mahi stepped to the line with :02 left and converted the first of two charity shots to clinch the two-point win.

Mahi finished with 32 points, followed by Ariya Briscoe's 12 and 11 from Jeremiah Dargan. Daniel-Dalton led the Rams with 34.

Against De Anza (3-23, 1-10), WVC grabbed a 5-0 lead on an Aaron Ragen three at 16:40 and never trailed. The Vikings canned five threes after the break, two each from Dargan and Nick Attanasio and one from Ignacio Bettinelli, to run away from the Mountain Lions.

Mahi had 17 points, while Briscoe finished with 12 and Dargan had 11. Tim Oldham led the Mountain Lions with 13 points.
