West Valley and Gavilan opened Wednesday night's game in Gilroy hitting three three-pointers each and would battle back-and-forth all night before the Rams eked out a 78-74 Coast Conference victory. Ibn Zaid canned a crucial three and a pair of free throws at the end to seal it for league-leader Gavilan (20-2, 6-1 Coast). The Vikings (12-12, 3-5) got a game-high 23 from Devante Johnson and Ken Opamuratawongse drained five treys on his way to 17 points. Zaid paced the Rams with 22 points and Xander Bowers came off the bench for 14 points and 16 rebounds. West Valley returns home after a four-game road swing next Wednesday (2/7) against Hartnell (12-9, 4-3). The ball goes up at 7:00pm.
