Men's Hoops Win Two in San Diego

The MSJC men's basketball team bounced back from an opening day loss with a pair of victories this weekend in San Diego.

The Eagles won easily on Friday as they built a 40 point halftime lead over Imperial Valley at 61-21 and went on to win 108-41.  Six Eagles reached double figures in scoring led by 22 points from Dasean Stevens and 21 from Kyle RenderAlex Miller and Elijah Shirley both posted double doubles as Miller finished with 14 points and a game high 16 rebounds, while Shirley had 11 points and 10 boards.  Owen Wright and Mateo Blocker both also reached double figures with 14 and 11 points each.

On Saturday MSJC kept it rolling as they built a 20 point halftime lead on their way to a 92-67 win over Cuyumaca.  Stevens had another big game as he scored 25 points and grabbed a game high 14 rebounds to go along with 4 assists and 4 steals in the victory.  Shirley just missed a double double this time as he scored 20 points and hauled in 8 rebounds.  Render scored 17 points all in the first half to help the Eagles build their lead.

MSJC now 2-1 on the season will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mira Costa for a 7 pm game.  The Eagles return home on Saturday November 19th when they host Cypress at 3 pm.
