Green scores 24 points in 80-56 Porterville rout at Santa Barbara

Porterville College sophomore Da'Morea Green scored a season-high 24 points to help lead the Pirates to an 80-56 win at Santa Barbara City College on Saturday night.

The victory improved Porterville to 5-6 overall and closed out the non-conference schedule for PC. The Pirates open Central Valley Conference play on Thursday (Jan. 3) with a 6 p.m. game at Reedley College.

On Saturday, Porterville outscored Santa Barbara 19-4 over the final 8:14 of the game to secure the victory.

There were 10 lead changes and four ties in the first half. SBCC went ahead 17-16 on a bucket by Jacob Williams, then the Pirates put together a 17-5 burst and took a 33-22 lead on a 10-foot pull-up jumper by Elijah Cardenas with 5:08 to go. PC was up 42-35 at halftime.

Green made 11 of 14 shots and grabbed 8 rebounds while Cardenas finished with 13 points and Dominic King had 6 points, 7 assists and 5 steals.
