
Bulldogs Pass Road Test at SBCC, 80-68
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team picked up another conference victory on Saturday afternoon at Santa Barbara City College in an 80-68 decision. | BOX SCORE
The game started off evenly, with the Bulldogs (18-9, 8-3 WSC) holding a slim 41-36 lead at halftime. Santa Barbara (8-19, 1-10 WSC) hung tough in the opening 20 minutes, matching AHC's offensive intensity, but the visiting squad pulled away in the second half behind their hot shooting from beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs shot an impressive 40.6% from three-point range (13-for-32) and finished with a 45.0% field goal percentage overall. Their offensive efficiency was on display, as they dished out 17 assists while committing only eight turnovers. The Vaqueros posted a red-hot 49.1% finish overall but committed 15 turnovers that turned into 14 points on the opposite end.
Ay-Keen Richardson led all scorers on the night with 21 points, hitting a trio of three-pointers while adding as many rebounds and two assists. Trenten Lavender followed with 20 points after a 4-for-9 finish from deep while adding six assists and three steals. Owen Ubaldo and River Ortiz also finished in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Hancock will return home on Wednesday, February 19th, for the regular season finale against Ventura College. That game is set to tip-off at 7 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.
