It was not a walk in the park for the Hornets on Saturday afternoon as the No. 1 team in the south hosted No. 4 Moorpark College and got past the Raiders 68-61.
The Hornets managed to take a 17-11 lead in the 14th minute of the first half on a jumper by Anthony Smith Jr. and then bumped it to 30-15 from a layin by Joe Grahovac by the 7:50 mark. The Raiders swung the momentum of the game hard in their directon for the next five minutes pulling within two 30-28 with a couple minutes left in the half. By the time the dust settled at the halftime break, FC still held a narrow 34-32 advantage.
Moorpark came out firing in the second half grabbing a 41-39 lead, but the Hornets soon swung back pulling ahead 48-43 thanks to a three-pointer by Addy G'Bye. Fullerton played tough defense keeping Moorpark at bay, while the FC offense did enough to maintain a 7-point lead average throughout the game.
JQ Strong led the charge for Fullerton with 16 points, and Addy G'Bye followed with 13 of his own. Joe Grahovac dropped in 12 points, had 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Justin Davis chipped in with 11 points and 6 rebounds in a winning effort.
Up Next: The No. 1 Hornets (4-1 overall) will take on No. 2 San Bernardino Valley College on Wednesday, November 20th when they travel to the Wolverine's house for a big non-conference game. Tipoff is at 5:00 pm.
