MEN’S BASKETBALL: HARD ROAD LOSS

No. 14 Fullerton College played at No. 11 Riverside College Wednesday night and gave the Tigers a run for their money before falling 70-61.

The loss lands Fullerton at 10-5 in the Orange Empire Conference and gives the team a 21-5 overall record. All alone in first place in the OEC, the Tigers are now 14-2 in conference-play and 19-9 overall.

The first half of the game was back-and-forth as both the Hornets and Tigers matched each other shot for shot. FC shot 47.8% from the floor to RCC's 36.4%, however both teams locked horns by halftime tied at 30-30.

Fullerton pulled ahead by the 15-minute mark of the second half 40-35 on a jumper by Devin Howlin.

Riverside tied the game back up at 45 apiece by 9:21, and then toppled the Hornet's hopes going on a 16-5 run. With just under 3 minutes left in regulation, FC found itself down 61-50.

The Hornets fought their way back into the game getting within 5 points (66-61) with 36 seconds left in the game, but it was too little too late.

Omajae Smith had a good night scoring a game-high 21 points. Jacob Eyman had 11 points with 8 rebounds, and Ryen Perry dropped in 8 points with 6 assists. Ronnie Stapp had 7 points and Devin Howlin scored 9 with 6 rebounds.

THE RUN IT BACK MENTALITY

There's a saying in basketball at the park or in the gym when you lose a game, and no one has next…"RUN IT BACK".

It's a refusal to accept losing. More than that though, it's fighting back. And if you lose again…"RUN IT BACK"

For those of you who are fighting or know someone who is fighting the real fight, the fight for your life against cancer, we want you to "RUN IT BACK", we want you to keep fighting…we don't ever want you to give up.

Please join both Fullerton College basketball teams and the CCCAA in supporting the American Cancer Society.
