Coming back from a longer-than-expected winter break, it might have been expected that the San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team might show a little rust when it took the floor Wednesday night against Cerro Coso College.

Turns out, it wasn't so bad.

The Wolverines made 58.4 percent from the field, missed only one free throw in 20 tries and rolled to a 122-73 victory over the Coyotes in the Wolverines' only scheduled home game in January.

The two teams both came out firing, with the Coyotes keeping it close for the game's opening minutes. But SBVC went on an 11-2 run in a span of about three minutes to turn a 27-27 tie into a 38-29 lead that they would build up to 52-33 at the half.

SBVC came out firing to start the second half, going on a 15-4 run in the opening five minutes to blow the game open.

The Wolverines had five players finish the game in double figures, led by a 40-point performance from Dominique Daniels. Daniels ended the night hitting on 13 of his 20 shots, including 5 of 6 from three-point range. He also added eight assists, five rebounds and three steals.

Chester Makoi came off the bench to score 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting (along with four blocked shots), while Brandon Thompson added 17 points, Devin Fortune had 13, while Armon Muldrew had 12.

Cerro Coso also ended the game with five players in double figures, led by Daron Hall's 18 points. The Coyotes finished the game only making 35 percent of their shots, with the Wolverines holding a 44-33 advantage in rebounds on the game.
