Monterey Peninsula erased a 64-46 West Valley lead with 12:30 left to hold off the Vikings 84-83 Friday night in Monterey. Talili Lealea gave the Lobos an 84-82 lead with a half second remaining, but a technical foul on MPC sent Devante Johnson to line for a pair of free throws. DJ hit the first, but the second rattled out and the ensuing WVC inbounds pass was knocked away, giving the Lobos the improbable win. Johnson led all scorers with 38 points, while Isaiah Abdul-Basir paced the Lobos (11-10, 3-2 Coast) with 18. The Vikings (11-10, 2-3) continue their four-game road swing Wednesday night at Highway 17 rival Cabrillo (10-9, 3-2). Tipoff is 7:00pm.
