SCC Finishes Non-Conference Schedule Undefeated

SCC displayed a high-potent offense tonight as they defeated El Camino College by the score of 132-73. The 3rd ranked Hawks improved their record to 12-0 and completed their non-conference schedule undefeated. SCC started strong and played a complete team game with every player getting in the action. All players scored in tonight's contest, and the team set several school records in the process. The first half was a blur as both teams pushed tempo and created a fast-paced game. The Hawks scored an astounding 68 points in the half, which included 13 made three-point shots. Antoine Jenkins led the way with 32 points in the half while connecting on 8 for 11 from behind the 3-point line. A.J. Garrity finished the half with 11 points with 3 three-pointers. The Hawks led at the half, 68-40. Jenkins' 32 points in the first half is the most points scored in a half by a player in school history.
The second half was just as fast-paced as the first. The Hawks continued their torrid shooting and managed to capture a 62-point lead with 4:12 left in the game. This set a school record for biggest lead in a game. Six players finished the game scoring in double digits. Jenkins scored 38 points, David Agba had 16 points, Lucas Holden scored 15 points (4/4 from the 3-pt. line), Paulo Araujo scored 14 points, and both Paul Vilela and A.J. Garrity finished with 11 points. SCC set a school record with 21 made three-point shots in the game. Eight different players connected on three-pointers. The previous game-high was 19 in the 2018 State Regional Semi-Finals vs. East LA College. They also secured 54 total rebounds in the game to eclipse the previous school record of 53 rebounds set vs. El Camino during the 207-18 season. Tiny Poling came off the bench and grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds. Jenkins led all players with 6 assists as well.
The Hawks are now 12-0 on the season and will start conference play next week. On Wednesday, December 18th SCC hosts Orange Coast College with a tip-off time of 6:00pm. On Friday, December 20th, the Hawks will play at Cypress College at 5:00pm. The SCC Men's Basketball Team is now ranked 3rd in California in the Massey Rating and the CCCMBCA Coaches' Poll. They finish non-conference play with the 4th highest scoring average in the state at 93.1 ppg, the top three-point shooting team in the state with 158 made three pointers, and average the second most assists in the state with 20.9 assists per game. SCC looks to continue their momentum as they enter conference play next week.
