The MSJC men's basketball team had a chance on both Friday and Saturday to come away with victories, but came up just short as they lost to Cerritos and LA Southwest at the Frank Garcia Classic in Palm Desert.

On Friday the Eagles led by two points at the half 33-31, but couldn't hold on as they fell to Cerritos 69-58.  Danilo Da Silva did all he could to help the Eagles as he scored a game high 23 points in the loss.  Cameron Durr was the only other MSJC player to reach double figures in scoring as he had 10 on the night.  Mekhi Hill pulled in a team best 7 rebounds and Isaiah Skinner dished out a game high 8 assists.  The Eagles defense seemed up to the task as they held the Falcons to just 34% shooting from the field, but the offense was unable to take advantage.

Saturday the Eagles again went to the halftime break with the lead and could not hold on as their 45-41 advantage at the break turned into a 102-95 loss to LA Southwest.  Skinner led the offense with an impressive 30 point outing for MSJC while Anton Mozga recorded a double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Da Silva once again scored in double figures as he added 13, while Ethan Bell had 11 points an a team high 7 assists on the day.  Josh Hardiman also reached double figures in scoring as he had 10 points off the bench.

The Eagles will be back in action this week, Friday and Saturday, when they travel to San Diego to take part in the Cuyumaca Classic.  Friday MSJC will play the host team at 5 pm and then on Saturday afternoon the Eagles will take on Imperial Valley at 3 pm.
