Bobcats win fourth straight

The Saddleback men's basketball team ran its winning streak to four on Friday night with an 84-75 win against Golden West College inside the Saddleback gymnasium.  The Bobcats find themselves in a four-way tie for first place two games into the Orange Empire Conference season.

Saddleback was a bit sluggish in the opening half but still managed a 33-30 lead at the intermission.  The Bobcats heated up in the second half, putting together two big scoring streaks in putting the Rustlers in their rear-view mirror.

Saddleback was led by Atiba Taylor, who scored 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.  Taylor's biggest play of the night, however, was feeding Torrance Farr for a dunk in the second half while Saddleback was ahead by double-digits.

Saddleback had a big advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Rustlers 36-20 for the night.  Derek Rubidoux led the Bobcats with eight rebounds while Gerald Jones III came off the bench to finish with six.

Saddleback is now 9-4 overall and 2-0 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats play next at Victor Valley College on Tuesday night in a non-conference game.  Saddleback and Victor Valley are scheduled to tip off at 5:00 PM in Victorville.
