Men's Hoops Keeps Streak Alive with an OT Win Over the Raiders, 94-90

Men's Basketball remains undefeated in Western State Conference play and is currently riding a six-game winning streak after taking down visiting Moorpark in overtime, 94-90.  The Raiders, who also entered the game undefeated in WSC play, broke out to a 46-35 lead at the intermission by hitting a dozen of their game-leading 18 three-pointers during the first half.  In the second half, the also Cougars heated up from beyond the arch and netted of their nine of their 14 bonus shots during second half and overtime, including Japjit Gill's (Union City- pict) buzzer beater at the end of regulation to force overtime. Gill's heroics set the stage for the Cougars, who cruised through overtime with a 10-6 advantage for the win.  Gill, the Cougars' sophomore point guard, ended the game with 19 points, seven rebounds, while also leading the team with a trio of both assists and steals.  Freshmen Forwards Juani Dassie (Marcos Juarez, ARG) and Kobe Pearson (Melbourne, AUS) posted 20 and 19 points, respectively, to lead the Cougars, while Ben Condra paced the Raiders with 19 points.  

The Cougars are 8-11 overall and atop the Western State Conference with a 3-0 mark against the loop.  Cuesta continues its first swing through the WSC Circuit with a pair of road games next week.  They play at Ventura on Wednesday (5 PM) and Oxnard on Saturday (1 PM).  Both games kick off a men's and women's doubleheader.
