VENTURA – Facing the No. 12 team in the state on Saturday, the SBCC men's basketball team fell at Ventura 91-51.

Forward Adam Weingard (12 points) scored in double-figures for the sixth straight game and 12th time in 13 outings, connecting on 4-of-8 from the field and pulling in four rebounds. Off the bench, Luke Sinclair put up eight points (4/7 FG), just two shy of a season-best.

However, the Vaqueros (7-14, 2-5) couldn't stop a Pirate (17-2, 5-0) team that shot 58.6 percent from the field and got to the line nearly three times as many times. Ventura took a 49-28 lead into halftime and outscored SBCC by 19 points over the final 20 minutes.

Guards Wilfrid Nado and JJ Fain both finished with six points. Jaelen Bates and Daymrion Sears scored five points each off the bench.

Fain went 2-of-4 from three-point range, hitting multiple threes for the third time in the last four games. He is shooting 46.7 percent over that stretch.

The Vaqueros actually had a solid night from the outside, shooting 38.5 percent (5/13 3FG) from distance compared to 30.8 percent (4/13) for the Pirates. However, Ventura had a great night on the glass, outrebounding SBCC 49-29.

On Wednesday, Santa Barbara returns home for the first time in four games to host Oxnard at 5:00 p.m.
