Cagers Open Conference Play with a Win at Santa Barbara, 72-60

Men's Basketball has won their past three games since re-vamping their offense, including their win at Santa Barbara City.  The Cougars victory over the host Vaqueros, 72-60, to open their Western State Conference schedule also marked their third straight game of 70-points or more.  Cuesta's three-game mini-streak put their previous six-game losing streak in the rearview mirror and makes them the State's most dangerous 6-11 team.  The Vaqueros held their homecourt advantage through the first half of the contest, 32-28, but the Cougars shot 53% from the floor, including seven three pointers, after the intermission en route to victory.  2021 Team MVP Darryl Brooks II (Menemonee Falls, WI), who moved over to point guard for the injured Japjit Gill (Union City, CA), posted a near triple double with 13 points and team-highs with eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals.  Freshmen Forwards Ketan Sidhu (Seattle, WA) and Reumang Emagna (Charleroi, BEL) each netted 17 points to lead the team.  The Cougars, 6-11 overall, are 1-0 in Western State Conference play.

The Cougars travel to Santa Maria this Saturday (3 PM) to face local rival Allan Hancock.  The Bulldogs are 8-7 on the season and shall open their Western State Conference schedule against Cuesta.
