SCC Falls in OEC Matchup

Santiago Canyon traveled to Fullerton College to battle the Hornets in a matchup of the top two teams in the Orange Empire Conference. The Hawks battled throughout and the game had many lead changes, but SCC fell to Fullerton by the score of 83-76. The Hawks struggled in the first half and were down 43-29 as they only shot 37.9% from the field including 4 for 13 from the three-point line. Fullerton shot 52.9% from the field which enabled them to build the lead up to 14 by halftime.
In the second half, SCC came back strong and took the lead with about 8
minutes to go in the game. From there, the two teams exchanged leads 12 times and had 8 ties as the game went down to the wire. Fullerton hit a big three-point shot with about 1:30 to go in the game and SCC couldn't find a way to finish the comeback with a victory. SCC's Drew Yezbak was stellar throughout the game as he finished with a game-high 26 points including 6 three-pointers. David Agba chipped in with 15 points, while Aaron Wadman scored 12 and Erik Howlin had 11. Wadman played through a dislocated finger, which occurred early in the first half. Preston Sims led the team in rebounding with 7 boards.
With the loss, the Hawks drop to 7-3 in conference play and 17-4 overall. SCC will host Riverside City on Friday night. Tip-off is at 6pm.
