Bakersfield Falls in Final Second in Season Finale Against Canyons

BAKERSFIELD, CA - In a dramatic conclusion to the 2024-25 season, Bakersfield College men's basketball team battled down to the final possession but ultimately fell 74-72 to College of the Canyons at Gil Bishop Sports Center on sophomore night. Despite a second-half surge, the Renegades couldn't complete the comeback in their last game of the year.

The first half saw a tight contest, with both teams trading baskets and defensive stops. Freshman Isaiah Perry led the way early for Bakersfield, knocking down five three-pointers and finishing with 19 points.

Bakersfield found its offensive rhythm in the second half, shooting 53.8% from the field, but Canyons continued to match their intensity. Joauquin Rios had a strong showing in the paint, tallying 17 points and 4 rebounds, while Lendl Henderson dominated the glass with 14 rebounds and 10 points.

With under a minute to play, Bakersfield had a chance to take the lead, but a costly turnover allowed Canyons to maintain their slight advantage. A last-second three-point attempt by the Renegades missed, sealing the narrow defeat.

Leading the night for BC was Perry with 19 points, 5 three-pointers followed by teammate Rios finishing with 17 points and 4 rebounds.

Bakersfield shot 42.9% from the field, improving from a slow first half. The Renegades outrebounded Canyons 39-33, led by Henderson's 14 boards.

The loss closes the Renegades' season with a 12-16 overall record (4-10 in conference play).
