Cougars Claw Out 95-88 Road Win at Rio Hondo

WHITTIER — College of the Canyons shot better than 47 percent in the second half and converted on 12-of-13 foul shots down the stretch to help get past host Rio Hondo College 95-88 on Friday night.
The victory moved Canyons (5-5) moved back to .500 after having alternated wins and losses over its last four contests.
Rio Hondo (4-9) took a 45-43 lead into halftime after an opening period in which the Roadrunners came out hot, combining to shoot 17-of-33 from the floor with five three-pointers. RHC was led by Alwyn Saddler IV who finished with a game-high 36 points.
The Cougars received 23 points from Dillon Barrientos who also added eight rebounds, four assists and a game-high five steals. Jonah El-Farra was next with 17 points on an 8-of-10 shooting night. He also finished with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Andrew Henderson with 17 points and Jimmy Galgano at 13 points led a COC reserve squad that combined for 39 points off the bench.
Canyons won the rebounding battle 42-29 and finished the game 17-of-20 from the charity stripe to help edge the Roadrunners.

Upcoming Schedule
COC returns to the Cougar Cage to host West Hills Lemoore at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20. That game will be live streamed to fans free of charge on the Cougars Sports Network.
Canyons will then host the 32nd Annual Cougar Holiday Classic on Dec. 28-29 at the Cougar Cage. The host Cougars will take on Mt. San Antonio College at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 followed by Orange Coast College vs. L.A. Trade Tech College tipping at 4 p.m.
Day two action will continue with games again slated for 2 and 4 p.m. with matchups based on opening day results. All games will be broadcast live to fans free of charge on the Cougars Sports Network.
