Chabot Makes a Move in this Week's Poll
Gladiators finally gets its reward for win over San Francisco; Fullerton remains No. 1, but it isn't unanimous
It what will be the final Top 30 as voted upon by the CCCMBCA coaching body, Fullerton remained the coaches' top pick. Backed by a state-best 19-game win streak, the Hornet (26-1) won the Orange Empire Conference championship and appear headed to the No. 1 seed in the south. Meanwhile, San Francisco, the defending state champs, remained just points behind Fullerton. The Rams, the presumed north's No. 1 seed, remains deadlocked with Chabot in a battle for the Coast-North title.
Chabot was this week's biggest mover, cashing in on its upset of San Francisco on February 1, a day after the previous poll release. The Gladiators move to No. 14 this week on the strength of an 11-game win streak.
Citrus' unexpected loss to Santa Monica, opened the door for San Bernardino Valley, the Inland Empire Athletic Conference champions, to move to No. 3. The Sequoias Giants, the Central Valley Conference champions, stepped over Yuba to get to No. 4. Yuba, the soon-to-be Bay Valley Conference champion, remainded at No. 5.
Citrus, which needs a win this week to claim the Western State-South title, settled at No. 6. East Los Angeles and Los Angeles Harbor flopped places this week at No. 7 and No. 8 respectively. And, San Jose City and West Valley, which remain in a battle for the Coast-South title, remained at No. 9 and No. 10.
Next week's poll will use the regional seeds and other criteria to determine the final CCCMBCA rankings for the 2022-23 season. After that we will let the sudent athletes battle it out for the CCCAA championship trophy.
