LA Southwest's Davis Commits to Louisville
Davis is the third player to join Louisville's 2023 recruiting class
Los Angeles Southwest's Koron Davis, a sophomore out of Boman High School in Gary, IN, announced his commitment to University of Louisville through On3's Joe Tipton.
Davis, a 6-foot-7 guard, announced his decision less that two weeks after Cardinals head coach head coach Kenny Payne, who in his first season, offered Davis.
"I chose Louisville because they fit my play style and it felt like a family to me," Davis told On3. "Head coach Kenny Payne flew in to see me and kept it real with me and made my mother happy. I just want to do whatever to make my mom happy. Where I come from, kids don't get to play at the next level."
Across 18 appearances (17 starts) with Los Angeles Southwest, Davis ranks second in the California Community Colleges Athletic Association with a 25.7 scoring average. He is shooting 49.2 percent from the floor and 36.5 percent from beyond the three-point line. He is also averaging 7.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Thus far, his best performance came on Janaury 11 when he scored 43 points in a double-overtime victory against Mt. San Antonio. Davis has scored in double figures in every game this season. He is coming off a 33-point performance against Long Beach City College.
Davis transferred from Paris Junior College in Texas. In his lone season at Paris Junior College, he averaged 15.7 points a game on 46.7 percent shooting (26.3 percent from the three-point line) in 31 games (21 starts). His earned All-NJCAA Region XIV, second team honors.
